Faith in the Waiting

Faith in the Waiting
Waiting is one of the hardest parts of faith.
Waiting for answers.
Waiting for healing.
Waiting for direction.
Waiting for things to make sense.
We often talk about trusting God — but learning to trust Him while we wait is where faith is truly refined.
Waiting Isn’t Wasted
It can feel like nothing is happening when God asks us to wait.
But Scripture tells a different story.
“The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him.” — Lamentations 3:25
Waiting seasons are not empty seasons.
They are formative ones.
God uses waiting to:
-
Strengthen our trust
-
Shape our character
-
Refine our hearts
-
Teach us dependence on Him
Even when it feels still, God is working.
The Tension Between Grit and Grace
Waiting requires grit.
It takes perseverance to keep showing up when progress feels slow.
It takes discipline to remain faithful when the outcome is unclear.
But waiting also requires grace.
Grace reminds us:
-
We don’t control the timeline
-
We aren’t forgotten
-
God’s plan isn’t delayed — it’s deliberate
Grit keeps us moving forward.
Grace keeps us anchored while we wait.
Biblical Waiting Isn’t Passive
Waiting on the Lord doesn’t mean doing nothing.
Scripture shows us that waiting often looks like:
-
Praying consistently
-
Obeying faithfully
-
Serving where we are
-
Trusting God daily
“Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!” — Psalm 27:14
Biblical waiting is active trust — not idle hope.
When Waiting Feels Heavy
There are seasons when waiting feels especially hard.
When prayers seem unanswered.
When doors remain closed.
When hope feels fragile.
In those moments, faith may feel quiet — but quiet faith is still faith.
God sees every step of obedience.
He hears every prayer whispered in doubt and trust alike.
Learning to Trust God’s Timing
God’s timing rarely matches our own.
But Scripture reminds us:
“For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven.” — Ecclesiastes 3:1
Waiting teaches us that:
-
God’s timing is purposeful
-
God’s delays are not denials
-
God’s plans are always good
Faith grows when we choose to trust Him — even without answers.
Holding On in the Waiting
If you find yourself in a season of waiting, take heart.
You are not behind.
You are not forgotten.
You are not failing.
You are being shaped.
Waiting requires grit — the strength to endure.
Waiting requires grace — the humility to trust.
And God is faithful in both.
