Love, But Make It Biblical

Love, But Make It Biblical

Valentine's day has a way of putting love on display - flowers, chocolates, cards, and perfectly curated moments. For some, it feels sweet and exciting. For others, it can feel heavy, lonely, or even a little painful. And for many of us, it's somewhere in between.

But here's the truth we don't talk about enough:

Real love doesn't always look like roses and candlelight.

Real love looks like showing up on the hard days. It looks like patience when you're tired. Grace when emotions run high. Forgiveness when it would be easier to walk away.

That kind of love doesn't come from perfection - it comes from faith.

The Bible tells us that love is patient and kind. That it isn't boastful or proud. That it bears all things and endures all things. And while that verse gets quoted a lot this time of year, living it out is a whole different story.

Love takes grit.

It takes grit to keep choosing your spouse when life feels overwhelming. It takes grit to pour into your children when you're running on empty. It takes grit to love people who don't always love you back. And it takes grace - God's grace - to do it well.

At Grit N Grace, we believe love isn't just something you feel - it's something you live. It's faith in action. It's trusting God when love feels messy, imperfect, or unfinished. It's understanding that God's love doesn't depend on your relationship status, your past, or how put together you feel today.

If Valentine's Day finds you joyful, celebrate it fully. If it finds you weary, take heart. And if it finds you longing for more, remember this:

You are already deeply, completely, and intentionally loved.

God's love doesn't fade when feelings do. It doesn't disappear when things get hard. It doesn't require you to earn it or prove yourself worthy. It simply is.

So this Valentine's Day, let's redefine love. Not as something perfect - but as something faithful. Not as something flashy - but as something rooted.

Love, covered in grace. Love, strengthened by grit.

And love that points us back to the One who loved us first.
